Will The Prices for Ham and Bacon increase this Christmas?
Ham and Bacon
It is almost December with holidays in our mind and Christmas season is all around. Christmas day is fast approaching and this is the day where each and every member of the family celebrates and gathers around every year.
With every Christmas celebration, the most common food served is always Bacon or Ham which is always present during this Christmas gathering.
Some people are already gathering their stocks of food for Christmas eve since they are preparing themselves if there might be any changes on the prices of this foods when Christmas comes around.
Well, the good news is the government assured that the price of ham or bacon which is usually served during Christmas season will not increase.
Earlier this October 22, 2015, Dr. Minda Manantan an executive director of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) said that the public need not to worry of an increase in the meat prices.
In an interview, Manantan said that their agency will continue to monitor the prices of ham and bacon in every markets and grocery in the country.
Manantan also made a statement following the damages of Typhoon Lando in Central Luzon, Southern Tagalog and Northern Luzon region which is the common sources of pigs in the country and NMIS also ensured that it will not affect the supply of meat since there are still enough supplies for meat in the country.
Manantan also said that the public need not to fear those rumors of “bocha” or double dead pork since their agency are always alert and are monitoring the market and remind all the customers to report if there are any suspicious dead meat which can be easily determined since the skin of this meat is usually dark.
So for us consumers, we should always be ready in doing our grocery in the market for the foods that we eat especially the ones we always prepared during Christmas.
