Oslob, Cebu is gaining popularity because of its latest attraction, the Whale Shark Watching. It is located in Tan-awan, Oslob and is 177 kilometers away from the city. Whale sharks are visible in the area since they are fed by the fishermen riding their motorized feeder boats. Today reports say that there are at least 5 whale sharks that have been frequently swimming along with tourists.
If you are planning of going there, you can take a bus ride, priced at Php150, for about 3 hours road trip. When you reach there, proceed to the tent where you can purchase tickets for your whale shark encounter. The local government unit issues tickets for ordinary viewing at Php300. For snorkeling and diving, there is an additional charge of Php20 and Php50 accordingly. A Php100 charge is collected for your camera or video equipment. Anyone touching the whale shark will be fined with Php5000. Life vests cost Php30 each and Php10 for your bathroom use. Food stalls and souvenir shops are available for tourists.
Ask the locals for more adventure in the place. Most of them would recommend going to Tumalog Falls. You can reach the falls via a motorcycle at Php100. You can also opt for an island hopping to the nearby island, Sumilon Island. Negotiate well to the boat owners to meet your short term goal.
