Filipina worker was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment
A filipina oversea worker (OFWs) who works in Dubai was sentenced in two years imprisonment after she put in a shoeboard box and buried her newborn child.
According to Dubai Court of First Instance, the baby died after birth by the 30-year-old mother.
On her defense, the filipina said that she gave birth to a premature baby last January 1st 2013 but after one day the child got sick and because they do not have money to take the child to the hospital and that is how the infant died.
Victim also admitted that she endangered the life of her unborn baby during pregnancy because there was no enough financial support for medication and total Dh26, 000 hospital bill for Filipina workers.
She was sentence for”in absentia” because of this case she was hiding the corpse of the dead child and was having sex to his fellow citizen who until now still being searched by the police.
The filipina submit an appeal to the court to give her consideration and given lighter punishment because she did not intend to kill the baby.
The filipina will then be deported back to the Philippines when she will be serving her penalty.
Based on Criminal Procedures Law in Dubai, the Filipina is still entitled for a new trial.
