Chess Federation of the Philippines – struggling to win the tournament

The four woodpushers were struggling to the National Chess Federation of the Philippines in the 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2013 Yonsei University International Campus in Incheon, South Korea.

Not a single medal won by the players participating this event were World Cup medal GMs Oliver Barbosa and Mark Paragua in the men’s classical and Janelle Mae Frayna WIM Catherine Perena the women’s classical.

The game ended in a draw last night on the fight between No.. 6 ranked Paragua, (ELO 2569) and No.. 4 seed Barbosa, (ELO 2572) in the last round so they ended up landing in the 12th and 14th spot held 4.5 pts and four points respectively.

On the other hand, Frayna landed on the 7th spot who finished 4.5 points while Perena also distant herself on the 23rd place and got only just 3.5 pts.

Super GM Yu Yangyi, (ELO 2675) of China’s wear the gold medal and also Abdulrahman Mohamed Saleh Saleh of UAE’s bring home the silver medal while Chinese Super GM Ding Liren went to No.. 2 seed on the rank on the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Philippines mixed teams will try their best to cope up with their tournament when they will face the team Korea.

Paragua plays as board 1 and GM John Paul Gomez positioned himself in board 2.

Perena was also the advance of the team pieces on the board 3 and WIM Bernadette Galas on board 4.

In this Chess Tournament, the Philippines rank on ninth seed  with an average rating of 2444 while on the top seed is China with 2633 ELO rating average.
