Alarming increase of HIV / AIDS cases in the Philippines
AIDS cases in The Philippines – is one of the countries with an alarming increase of cases of human immunodeficiency virus / Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV / AIDS) thus it requires more aggressive response to the current situation of the health problems in the country according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to Wordl Health Organization (or WHO) Philippine Representative Julie Hall, “The Philippines has the fastest growing HIV epidemic in the world, the window of opportunity is fairly small and there’s a few years where intensive work needs to be done to bring this outbreak into control. Otherwise, it simply gets bigger and bigger, more and more costly, more and more difficult to bring it under control. ”
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) has reached 24,376 cases of HIV / AIDS in the country since 1984 and recorded in 2014 was 17 cases per day of the disease. This 2015 there are 24 cases of AIDS within a day of the DOH AIDS Registry recorded.
The WHO admits that the data will certainly be less than the actual number of sick and therefore recommends two to three times per year to the DOH’s AIDS testing week to immediately be able to screen the possible carrier and providing appropriate action so that it will also not affect other individuals.
The WHO also believes that by implementing Reproductive Health Law, it could also help educating and informing the youth about the disease.
